On 30th April 2017, for the 3rd year running, Laurie Ross took part in The Kiltwalk walking 23 miles from Glasgow Green to Balloch.
Our team of 17 walked various distances, from 5 miles to 23 miles in support of A&M Scotland and through the generosity of friends, families and our customers we raised an incredible £3967.66!!
A&M Scotland supports children and young people from Scotland’s most deprived areas to improve their life chances. Currently they are operating in 30 of the most deprived areas in Glasgow and engaging with around 2500 young people every week who access the sports and activities completely free of charge. While children from age 5 to 18 access the diversionary sports programmes, those aged 16 – 24 also benefit from the Volunteer Programme which allows them to access training and volunteering opportunities to help build both their CV and self-esteem.
As well as their weekly programme of football, dance and other activities they also run Easter, Summer and October Break Camps which sees over 300 kids access their services every day in Springburn. As part of these programmes they bus kids into Springburn every day from across the city. Again it is all free of charge and includes drinks, snacks and lunch for all the kids every single day.
