On Wednesday 19th June, the Laurie Ross management team took part in the Glasgow ‘Taxis To Troon’ outing.
This famous event has been running for 74 years and involves Glasgow taxi drivers creating a convoy to Troon.
This year, the much-loved event saw more than 110 drivers give up their time to take the children, who require additional support for learning, to Troon Beach for a fantastic day out.
Laurie Ross were delighted to sponsor and take part in this special day. Our team got into the spirit and dressed up, much to the children’s delight. Our Hamilton Branch Manager Craig (aka Pikachu) was a favourite with all the children and also took 3rd place in the Best Dressed Competition. Our MD, June Lynch, and Commercial Director, Gregg Ross, got lots of attention as Poppy the Troll and Woody from Toy Story. Our remaining managers were Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
We are delighted to have taken part in such a fantastic day! Roll on next year!
About The Outing
Since 1945, the taxi drivers from Glasgow have given up their time to bring children with additional educational needs, their parents and volunteers on a very special day out.
The procession of decorated taxis leaves Glasgow in the morning for a trip to the seaside at Troon. Hundreds of people line the streets to wave them off from Glasgow. On arrival in Troon, they are always given a very special welcome. Shops are decorated and local schools bring the pupils out to line the streets on the way into the town. Hundreds if not thousands of people cheer and wave the procession through the town, which is led by a police motorcycle escort and the Glasgow Police Pipe Band.
