Over 2018 the Laurie Ross team have raised an incredible £28,734.86 for local charities!!

This was achieved through the generosity of our insurers, our suppliers, our people and our amazing customers.

As a community insurance broker we pledged to donate to the charities most loved and voted for by our customers during 2018. As the year is coming to an end we wanted to give you an update on where the money was spent.

Partick Branch

Our Partick Branch customers voted for the St Margaret of Scotland Hospice as their Charity of the Year, with East Park School as the runners-up.

Fundraising and volunteering has been a big part of the team year, they walked 25 miles as part of the Glasgow Kiltwalk in addition to volunteering to clean and paint at East Park School. Our fantastic Partick renewal customers agreed to ’round up the pennies’ which added to our target. Overall the team raised a fantastic £2145.26 for St Margaret of Scotland Hospice and purchased gardening equipment and supplies to the value of £500 for East Park School’s new sensory garden.

 

Paisley Branch

Our Paisley customers voted for Action for Children Scotland as their Charity of the Year, with St Vincent’s Hospice as the runner-up.

Our team took part in various events such as The Glasgow Kiltwalk and slept out all night to take part in Action for Children’s Byte Night 2018. The team also donated their time to volunteer in the Action for Children tent at the TRNSMT Festival. All this, including our wonderful customers ’rounding up the pennies’ on their renewal premiums and taking part in our ‘Bonus Ball ‘ competition, helped us hit our target. Action for Children received a donation of £2239.15 and St Vincent Hospice received £500.

 

Shettleston Branch

Our Shettleston customers voted for the Glasgow NE Foodbank as their Charity of the Year, with With Kids and Easthall Park Residents Association as the runners-up.

Our team took part in various events such as The Glasgow Kiltwalk and attended and took part in a ‘Stars In Their Eyes’ charity night in aid of the foodbank. Our fantastic customers agreed to ’rounding up the pennies’ on their renewal premiums which contributed to us hitting our targets. We donated a fantastic £2772.25 to Glasgow NE Foodbank, £500 to With Kids and Easthall Park Residents Association received £500 which included a £250 insurance voucher for their raffle.

 

Cumbernauld Branch

Our Cumbernauld customers voted for the Strathcarron Hospice as their Charity of the Year, with the Craighalbert Centre as the runner-up.

To fundraise our team walked 25 miles in The Glagow Kiltwalk and volunteered to ‘bucketshake’ at local events. They have also been donating to ‘Dress Down’ at work and collecting in branch. Our fantastic customers have also been ’rounding up the pennies’ on their renewal premiums to help us hit our target. We were delighted to be able to donate £2000 to Strathcarron Hospice and the Craighalbert Centre received £500 through sponsorship of a hole at their annual golf day and an insurance voucher for their raffle.

 

Hamilton Branch

Our Hamilton customers voted for St Andrew’s Hospice as their Charity of the Year, with Blameless and PAMIS as the runners-up.

They have been an active bunch this year taking part in Tough Mudder and the Glasgow Kiltwalk in addition to volunteering and branch fundraising. Our renewal customers agreed to ’round up the pennies’ which gave us the final boost to hit our target. The team raised a fantastic £2305.35 for St Andrews Hospice, £500 for PAMIS and they purchased and wrapped £500 worth of toys to donate to Blameless Childrens Christmas Party to allow them to make sure a number of disadvantaged local children receive a Christmas gift.

 

Rutherglen Branch

Our Rutherglen customers voted for the Rutherglen and Cambuslang Foodbank as their Charity of the Year, with Healthy n Happy Community Development Trust and FAB – For All Bridgeton as runners-up.

Through the fantastic efforts of the team taking part in the 25 mile Glasgow Kiltwalk and paying to ‘dress down’ once a month, to our customers ’rounding up the pennies’ on their renewal premiums, we hit our target. The team also took part in a ‘foodrive’ at the local Morrisons and then helped the Foodbank sort the donated items. The C&R Foodbank received more than anticipated with a donation of £2436.60 and both Healthy n Happy and FAB received £500.
